8 Days Tour From Marrakech To Merzouga Desert Sahara :

DAY 1 : MARRAKECH – MARRAKECH

This 8 Days Morocco Excursion start after picking up from the airport at Marrakech. This will be a free day to visit the city of four colours: Ochre land, White Atlas, Blue sky and Green vegetation. Marrakech is on the great plain of Haouz surrounded by the High Atlas Mountains and was built by Abou Bakr, head of the Almoravids in 1062 when his cousin built the first Mosque there along with the first houses and planted palm groves. The city was built with materials from the area: wood from the forests of the Atlas, the blue stone and sand.

Day 2 : MARRAKECH – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE

Today we depart for the south. From the village of Ait Ourir the road narrows to cross the harbour Tiz n Tichka at 2260 metres where we will climb through the valley of the Wadi Tamesnar. We may also visit the tighremt (barn) of Irhem N’Ougdal, a fortified building of adobe and stone whose towers overlook the town. Another jewel of the region, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is Ait Benhaddou, a fortified village with beautiful crenellated towers, one of the most beautiful in the region of Glaua.

DAY 3 : OUARZAZATE – DADES VALLEY GORGES – TODRA GORGES

Discover the people of Skoura (42km), located in the heart of the valley of palm trees, with a stroll through the oasis with its lush vegetation. From here we will make a foray in to Dades Gorge. After Boulmane, which opens between the banks of the Dades, we will follow a road marked by kasbah’s and ksour, giving the landscape dyes ochre, red and mauve before crossing a stony plateau where camels graze. After a journey full of ksour and palm oasis we will reach Tineghir perched at 1350m altitude and partly surrounded by a palm grove where we will spend the night.

DAY 4 : TODRA GORGES – MERZOUGA – CAMEL RIDE – NIGHT IN DESERT NOMAD CAMP

First stop is Todra to visit the gorge. The walls shake and rise, more and more steeply, reaching 300m in height. After visiting this spectacular landscape we will go to the town of Tinejdada (55km) to reach the ksar Touroug (35km), surrounded by a beautiful oasis. Shortly after we will enter the palm Jorf we will move onwards to Merzouga where the best dates in the country and to be found. Ahead of you now appears the desert, voluptuous dunes with their fine golden sand. We will spend the night in the desert, travelling by camel across the great dunes fot the night in Haima, sleeping under the glow of the stars.

DAY 5 : MERZOUGA – ZAGORA

Our route continues along a tarred road south of the Saharan regions of Djebel Saghir in the direction of Rissani before driving onwards to Alnif and then Mcessi through the desert landscape passing through countless villages including Kob, Tansikht. We then pass through the beautiful Draa Valley, a huge green snake of land that penetrates the desert for about 250km leading to Zagora.

DAY 6 : ZAGORA – OUARZAZATE

From Zagora to Ouarzazate we travel further through the Draa Valley (164km) discovering numerous villages and oasis’. After passing through Agdz, crossing the Djebel Saghir with its amazing heart shaped dunes, we arrive in Ouarzazate.

DAY 7 : OUARZAZATE – MARRAKECH

We return to Marrakech via the Tizi n Tichka pass through the heart of the Atlas Mountains. The climb offers unique view of the breathtaking plains of Haouz. Once back in Marrakech there will be time to enjoy the colourful city, dinner at the Plaza, shopping in the souk.

DAY 8 :MARRAKECH – TRANSFER TO AIRPORT

Time for relaxation and last minute shopping before a transfer to the airport in plenty of time for your flight.
