7 Days Trek to Sirwa Massif from Marrakech :

Located in the south of the Toubkal range, the Jebel Sirwa (3,305 meters) is a dormant volcanic range that links the High Atlas to the Anti-Atlas. It is what remains of a very tall and very large ancient stratovolcano, which collapsed where geological dams and black lava streams emerge. The volcano dates from the late Miocene or early Pliocene. In this area we find kasbahs, douars (small hamlets) and villages with their collective granaries or fortifications called Igoudars (granaries-citadels, which symbolize a strong tradition of the Amazigh people).

In these inhabited valleys grow almonds, figs, nuts, cacti, and canes as well as fields of corn, barley and saffron, which benefit from sandy soils.
